Winter blues getting you down? Check out some greens at the Carlton County Local Food Fair on March 2 from 1-3 p.m. The inaugural free event will be held at Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College in Cloquet.

Local farms will display information about what foods they produce. While there may not currently be fresh produce available, there will be meat, honey and bread products for sale at the Food Fair. Community gardens and the Carlton County Farmers Market will also have displays and be available to answer questions.

“We just want to highlight local food producers,” said Ali Bilden Camps, organizer from the United Way of Carlton County. “For example, we have a lot of wonderful berry farms in the area.”

Kratom Extracts for Sale

Wayne Martin from the Minnesota Institute for Sustainable Agriculture will also be giving an educational presentation.

Some of the farms at the Food Fair participate in community supported agriculture (CSA) — basically a farm share. They will have information on their CSAs, such as examples of types of produce, meats, eggs, berries or flowers they offer. Prices vary for the shares, which are picked up weekly from a local site.
